Build the collections BI capstone — Smart Study Module 19
A fictional NBFC needs a compact collections dashboard and a defensible KPI dictionary.
Outcomes
- Define POS, DPD, efficiency and cure rate
- Build reproducible outputs
- Distinguish snapshot risk from payment trends
Understand
POS is ₹1,000,000 at 31 January. Accounts at 90+ DPD hold ₹500,000, or 50% of snapshot POS. These are educational definitions and are not a regulatory NPA classification.
January collection efficiency is 48,000/60,000 = 80%. For cure rate, the kit defines eligible accounts as start_dpd > 0 and cured as start_dpd > 0 with end dpd = 0: one of four eligible accounts, 25%. Paying something is not automatically curing arrears.
Follow the supplied model and DAX specification. Present branch and assigned-agent performance, monthly recoveries, January-end DPD buckets and a separate methodology page. The assignment is reproducible without pretending to supply a native PBIX.
Follow along
- Open the Collections BI project workspace and download the kit.
- Build/describe the model and KPI definitions.
- Reconcile all core metrics and test zero targets.
- Explain a business action without implying legal or credit decisions from the training model.
Worked example
Snapshot POS = SUM(Loans[pos]) DPD90 POS = CALCULATE([Snapshot POS], Loans[dpd] >= 90) DPD90 Share = DIVIDE([DPD90 POS], [Snapshot POS])
POS=1000000; 90+ POS=500000; 90+ share=50%; January efficiency=80%; educational cure rate=25%.
Practice
Enter the educational cure rate as a percentage number.
