Tell a decision-ready story — Smart Study Module 20
A senior reviewer needs the decision, evidence and uncertainty in under a minute.
Outcomes
- Separate observation from interpretation
- Give an actionable recommendation
- Publish a reproducible portfolio note
Understand
Start with the observed result, period and denominator. Then give an interpretation as a hypothesis, not as a proven cause. Finish with a responsible action, owner and review point.
For Nashik January, ₹21,000 collected against ₹30,000 leaves a ₹9,000 gap. A useful recommendation asks the branch owner to review eligible overdue accounts and promises a control-checked follow-up; it does not invent customer intent.
A portfolio README should state the fictional problem, files, tools actually used, run steps, formulas/queries, controls, findings and limitations. Screenshots should come from your real report and exclude private data.
Follow along
- Write a three-sentence executive summary.
- Use ₹21,000/₹30,000 and ₹9,000 correctly.
- Add source/as-of dates and a limitations section.
- Ask a reviewer to reproduce one metric from your files.
Worked example
Observation → interpretation (with caveat) → action/owner/review date
Nashik January gap=9000. A correct insight states period and target alongside the amount.
